The influence of gamma rays and electric shock on seed germination and seedling growth in burdock plants

Burdock plant is one of the important medicinal plants, critical part which roots used to clearance body toxins; study aimed stimulate burdock seed germination and seedling growth with low-cost treatments, represented by electric shock irradiation low doses gamma rays on seeds. The experiment was implemented at Medical Aromatic Plants Research Unit, College Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University Baghdad, Iraq, in 2020. included 6 treatments: soaking seeds water for 12 hours only, an (2 4 A) hours, irradiating (with 10, 20 or 30 Gy) hours. design complete randomized (CRD) three replicates. results indicated that highest percentage recorded under treatment (4 only (91.0 85.7%, respectively). On other hand, best speed achieved when were treated (30 reached 5.93 days. two water-soaked seeds, distinguished most seedlings' vegetative root characteristics length seedlings, number leaves, soft, fresh dry weight shoot systems. We conclude from before planting has a positive effect increasing increases gamma.
